2010 Guild Challenges

2010 Challenges will be a little different. Instead of giving you a specific pattern, we will suggest a theme to work on. Remember the challenges will be labeled according to the month in which the challenge was issued. They are "due" upon the following meeting. But please do bring any projects you've completed from prior projects as well, we'd love to see them all. This year there are potentital prizes. To be eligible for the prizes, projects must be cast-on, knit & completed in that month's challenge period.

Note, the July meeting was Trash to Treasure - there was no time to "turn in" the June Challenge. Please bring both June & July Challenge entries to the August meeting

July: Get Started on your Holiday Knitting
We all recognize that the year goes by so quickly, and that we really should start our holiday knitting in July, but with a few exceptions, many of us struggle to get everything done that we plan to do for the holidays. Now's our chance to get a head start, and maybe win a gift certificate, too!

June: Red, White & Blue; Stars & Stripes
Knit something with: a)red, white, and blue; b) stripes; or c)stars. If you use one of these, you get one chance for the gift certificate, if you use any combination of 2, two chances; if you use all 3, you get three chances.

May: Flower Power
After March winds and April showers, come... May flowers. Knit Flowers...you can knit flowers, knit then felt flowers, knit flowers in as part of a design...any old flowery fun. Be sure to bring any past challenges you have completed, so all may ooh and aah, and admire your perseverance in their completion!!

April:Get Down with Your Multi Crafty Self
Combine knitting with another craft. We encourage you to incorporate not only knitting and crochet, but also needlefelting, hot glue techniques, and any others you can think of. So, get crafty!

March: Going Green
In honor of Earth Day, the Guild goes Green! The April Challenge is to use recycled materials to create something new. This can be non-traditional "yarn" such as plastic, string, etc; recycled knit items made into something else, or items made with yarn containing recycled fibers. There will be a surprise for the best challenges presented.

February: Knit something with cables
If it has cables, and it's also green, you'll get 2 tickets to the challenge raffle, which will be a gift certificate to a local yarn shop. Remember, the project must be started and finished after the challenge was announced. No fair pulling out that green cabled sweater you made years ago!

January: Knit from the Heart
Knit with a heart, with red, with yarn you love, for someone you love... you get the picture? We're looking forward to seeing your interpretation on the theme.
